ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN DURING THE QUARTER |
Background
CNFA a non-profit, international development organization has been awarded a Contract from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to implement the Market Chain Enhancement Project (MarChE) in Haiti.
The goal of this project is to contribute to the development and competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises in value chains with potential for growth.
The project will stimulate and facilitate the development of at least twelve competitive interrelated market chains in the agribusiness and tourism sectors.
Other key non agricultural value chains such as construction, transportation and textiles are also targeted.
CNFA and Caribbean Business Consulting (CBC) partnership
Through MarChE, on March 10, 2009, a Partnership Agreement has been signed between CNFA and Caribbean Business Consulting (CBC).
Both institutions are engaged in cooperative activities of common interest and mutual benefit for MarChE.
They will share goals and facilitate collaboration in the following areas:
- Establishment of a Regional Coordination and Business Development Office in the Jacmel region;
- Empowerment of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) across all MarChE targeted value chains in the Jacmel region.
Activities during this quarter
Activities during this quarter focused on an assessment of training and technical assistance needs of the hotel sector, training modules development in Best Managements Practices for SME in the hotel sector, training in Best Management Practices for artisans and farmers, development of strategy and plans to address MSME business services needs and assistance needs assessment of business service providers, developing strategic plans for farmers and artisans associations.
